Description :
Prafulla (1934–2014) Trained at Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, where she won the Gold Medal in 1955, Prafulla went on to study graphic art in Paris at École des Beaux-Arts and Atelier 17. She exhibited internationally across Europe, Asia, and Australia, and her buoyant, luminescent abstracts, layered with palette knife and roller evoke meditative expanses and emotional depth. Her works are housed in major collections including NGMA, Lalit Kala Akademi, and the Prince of Wales Museum. A leader in India’s art institutions, she served as President of the Bombay Art Society and the Art Society of India, and contributed murals in ceramic, wood, and glass to prominent Mumbai buildings. Deeply engaged with Indian classical music, Prafulla’s practice reflects spontaneity, energy, and a profound spirit.
